Writing Funny
Ever wanted to write comedy or add a bit of humour to a more serious work? Probably not, but now you’re thinking about it, right? This interactive seminar covers the basics of humorous writing; from the importance of context, to developing the comedic “kernel”, to some tricks of the trade. If you’re working on something, bring it along, or if you’re simply looking for inspiration, just bring your open mind—there’ll be something in it by the end of class.
This workshop can be delivered as a two hour interactive seminar, or a four hour intensive with writing exercises.

Song in an Hour!
This workshop proves just how quick and easy writing can be! With nothing but a willing bunch of participants, and a little prodding by me, a song is created out of thin air in under an hour. Participants learn how to generate ideas, put them in order, and make something out of nothing. A great experience for kids to adults.

Comedy: From Idea to Performance
This program starts by answering the question, “Where do you get your ideas?” and ends with YOU performing your very own comedy routine. Learn how to find something to write about, make it funnier, and how to polish and edit it. Then take next step and perform what you’ve created in front of others.. All forms of humour are encouraged—music, song, sketch, stand-up, monologue—but it’s best to simply show up and see what happens.

This workshop can be presented as a series of classes or as a one day intensive.

The Art of Self-Management
You’ve got talent, but what now? How do you turn something you love to do into something you can make a living doing. In this seminar I review the various elements of running your own carreer: knowing what it is you’re doing, who you’re audience is, how to grow this audience, and how to find help when you need it. Focus on what makes you unique and discover how to grow your creative business over time.
